Wheat Growing Recommendations

Planting Guidelines for Wheat

  • Optimal planting time: April to May for winter wheat
  • Planting depth: 2-4 cm
  • Row spacing: 15-20 cm
  • Seeding rate: 100-120 kg/ha depending on variety
  • Plant density: 250-350 plants per square meter

Soil & Fertilizer Requirements

  • Prefers well-drained loamy soils with good organic matter
  • Ideal soil pH: 6.0-7.5
  • Basal fertilizer: Compound D (200-300 kg/ha) at planting
  • Top dressing: Ammonium nitrate (150-200 kg/ha) at tillering stage
  • Additional potassium may be needed in sandy soils

Harvest & Post-Harvest

  • Harvest when grain moisture content is 13-15%
  • Use combine harvesters for efficient harvesting
  • Dry immediately to 12% moisture for storage
  • Store in clean, dry conditions to prevent fungal growth
