Harvest & Storage
- Harvest when grain moisture is between 20-25% for shelled maize
- Cobs should be fully mature with hard, dry kernels
- Husks turn brown and dry when ready for harvest
- Harvest promptly to minimize field losses from pests and weather
- Dry grain to 12.5% moisture content before storage
- Store in clean, dry, and well-ventilated facilities
- Use proper pest control measures (admix chemicals or fumigation)
- Regular monitoring for moisture, pests, and temperature
